methods. Method 1 Manually edit the long formulas or long strings to make the
changes. Method 2 Split the long formulas or long strings into smaller ones that
are fewer than 305 characters each. Method 3 Use a text editor or word processor to replace text in long
formulas or long strings. To do this, follow these steps:
- In Microsoft Excel, click Options on the Tools menu.
- Click the View tab. Click to select the Formulas check box, and then click OK.
- Select the range of cells that contain the long formulas or
long strings, and click Copy on the Edit menu.
- Switch to a text editor or word processor, paste the
formulas or strings into the word processor, and perform a replace
operation.
- Copy the changed formulas or string to the
Clipboard.
- Switch to Microsoft Excel and click Paste on the Edit menu.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the View tab, click to clear the Formulas check box, and then click OK.
NOTE: Array formulas that are in the modified range are not preserved.
You must retype them as array formulas (press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER in Microsoft
Windows, or COMMAND+RETURN on the Macintosh). STATUSMicrosoft
