A synchronization error occurs when you use ActiveSync and Outlook 2000 (276563)

This article was previously published under Q276563 SYMPTOMS When you synchronize your handheld device by using
ActiveSync with Outlook 2000 on your desktop computer, you may receive the following
error message: Microsoft Outlook Synchronization -
Synchronization could not start because this desktop computer could not access
necessary information. Restart this desktop computer and synchronize
again. If this persists reopen Outlook, click on help then run detect and
repair. Synchronization cannot start because you cannot log on to the
network, and access information, restart your desktop and synch again. If
problems persist, contact your network administrator. CAUSE This behavior can occur because Outlook is configured for
either Internet mail or No E-mail support. To determine how Outlook is
configured, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. The second line in the About Microsoft Outlook dialog box displays the configuration. RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, switch Outlook 2000 to the Corporate
or Workgroup (CW) mode.
