Error Message Reports STOP 0x000000D1 in Serial.sys When Serial Device or Driver Verifier Is in Use (276545)

SYMPTOMS

When you use a serial device or run the Driver Verifier tool on a Windows 2000-based system, a STOP 0x00000D1 error in the Serial.sys driver may occur.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows 2000 does not check the status of the current power input/output request packet (IRP) and may move on to the next power IRP while the current IRP is still pending.

RESOLUTION

STATUS
