OL2000: Message Is Not Addressed When You Drag a Contact to the Inbox (276059)

SYMPTOMS

When you drag a contact with a message class other than the Microsoft Outlook Contacts form (IPM.contact) to the Inbox icon, the To: field of the new message does not have the e-mail information for the contact and the fields from the custom Contact form may appear in the message body of the new message.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can create a new message for the contact that was created with the custom Contact form by using one of the following methods:
  1. Right-click the contact, and then click New Message to Contact.

    -or-

  2. Click the contact, click the Actions menu, and then click New Message to Contact.

    -or-

  3. Click the contact, click the New Message to Contact icon on the toolbar.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior occurred in Outlook 97, but did not occur in Outlook 98. The behavior now occurs again in Outlook 2000.
