- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP1
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
This article was previously published under Q276017 SYMPTOMS
Distributed File System (DFS) Help contains the following documentation errors in the "How to" section:
- The references to the Join Replication and No Replication check boxes are incorrect, and these check boxes do not exist.
- This "Add a DFS shared folder" section is incorrect, and this section refers to menu commands that do not exist.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the preceding topics do not contain current DFS information. The topics were created early in the product development and were not updated.
RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, note the following corrections:
- The correct name for the Join Replication check box is Automatic Replication, and the correct name for the No Replication check box is Manual Replication.
- The "Add a Dfs Shared Folder" section should be titled "Add a Dfs Replica". Also, the "Add a Dfs Shared Folder" section incorrectly refers to a New Dfs Shared Folder command on the link context menu. The correct name for this command is New Replica, which opens the Add a New Replica dialog box for the link.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
