WD2002: Paste Options Button Remains on Screen After You Save Document (276002)

  • Microsoft Word 2002

This article was previously published under Q276002

SYMPTOMS

When you perform an action in Microsoft Word that causes the Paste Options button to appear (such as a drag-and-drop or a cut-and-paste operation), and then you save your document, the Paste Options button unexpectedly remains on the screen.

CAUSE

When you perform a drag-and-drop or a cut-and-paste operation in Word, the Paste Options button appears near the pasted text. This behavior helps you to easily integrate content from many different sources into a consistently formatted document.

Normally, the Paste Options button disappears when you continue to edit your document. However, if you save your document without closing it, the button remains on screen in case you want to apply formatting to your document.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue and remove the Paste Options button from the screen after you save your document, perform any type of editing change in your document. For example, add and then remove a space.
