PS/2 Port Error Message in Device Manager (275475)

When you connect any of the pointing devices listed at the beginning of this article to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port on your computer, an error message may be displayed under the entry for the PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port in Device Manager.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
- Your computer's BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) is configured to query the PS/2 port to detect an input device during the Microsoft Windows startup sequence.
- There is no pointing device connected to the PS/2 port in your computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, disable the option to query the PS/2 port in your computer's BIOS.
