These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, or both. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that occur if you incorrectly modify Active Directory object attributes can be solved. Modify these attributes at your own risk.
  1. Create an offline address list that contains a filtered copy of the global address list. For additional information about how to do so, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

NOTE: You must perform this step to successfully enable this feature. It is important that your offline address list contains only the filtered address list, and not a filtered global address list. If your offline address list contains any global address list, whether the default is global address list or a filtered global address list, users download the entire global address list, and not a filtered copy.
  2. Associate the offline address list that you created in step 1 with a particular mailbox. To do so, use ADSI Edit or another LDAP version 3 client to set the msExchUseOAB attribute to the full distinguished name of the offline address list.
