The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001
This article was previously published under Q274807 SYMPTOMS
You may not see recently saved files in a Microsoft Office application's File Open dialog box.
CAUSE
When you save a file to a SharePoint Portal Server workspace, its data is added to the server's Web Storage System and some properties for the file are stored. One of these stored properties causes the file to be visible in the File Open dialog box in Office applications. If the server is busy when the file is saved, it can take a few minutes before the properties are saved, preventing the file from being visible in the Office application.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior:
- Using My Network Places or Web Folders in Explorer, navigate through the workspace to the given folder, and then double-click the file to open it.
-or-
- Wait a minute or so, and try to open the file again from Word.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
This problem is only known to occur when you save files to SharePoint Portal Server enhanced folders. These folders support SharePoint Portal Server document management features such as publishing, approving, and so on.
