SYMPTOMS

When you start your Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition-based computer, or when you attempt to use your Visioneer PaperPort Scanner, you may receive the following error message:

Shell32.dll is linked to missing export Shlwapi.dll;SHCreateStream on file a

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Shlwapi.dll file in the Paprport folder may be corrupt, or it may need to be updated.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, you must rename the Shlwapi.dll file in the Paprport folder, and then copy the Shlwapi.dll file from the C:\Windows\System folder to the Paprport folder.

For information about how to copy files or folders, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Help, and then click the Index tab.
  3. In the dialog box, type:

    copying

  4. Double-click Copying files, folders, and then double-click Overview.
