This article was previously published under Q274755

SUMMARY

If you are connecting to a SharePoint Portal Server portal over a slow link, such as a dial-up modem Remote Access Service (RAS) connection, you may experience time-out errors that prevent you from uploading large documents.

If you have users that connect over slow links who are experiencing time-out problems, you can adjust the Active Server Page (ASP) script time-out setting in Internet Services Manager.

IMPORTANT: The time-out value is set on the workspace virtual directory. The value specified will affect ALL Active Server Pages in the workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

To configure the ASP script time-out value:
  1. On the SharePoint Portal Server server, start Internet Services Manager from the Administrative Tools group on the Programs menu.
  2. Expand the Server container, and then expand the Default Web Site container.
  3. Right-click the workspace name, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Virtual Directory tab, click the Configuration button under Application Settings.
  5. On the ASP Options tab, type the number of seconds you want for the ASP script time-out.
