PRB: Registered Remote SQL Servers May Be Lost from SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager (274747)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000 (all editions)

This article was previously published under Q274747

SYMPTOMS

Remote SQL Server registrations that appear in SQL Server 7.0 Enterprise Manager may be lost after installing SQL Server 2000 for the first time. All local instances of SQL Server will remain registered.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. SQL Server 2000 installs new client components and replaces the SQL Server 7.0 client components.

WORKAROUND

Manually reregister remote servers with Enterprise Manager.
