FIX: Permissions on the temp folder change after you use the Archive/Restore add-in in SQL Server OLAP Services (274732)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
This article was previously published under Q274732
BUG #: 9065 (SQLBUG_70)
SYMPTOMS
When you apply Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services Service Pack 2 (SP2), and you then run an Archive/Restore on an OLAP database, the permissions for the temp system folder change.
CAUSE
The Microsoft OLAP Services 7.0 SP2 Archive/Restore Add-In (Msmdarch.exe) changes the permissions on the temp folder. The permissions applied on the root of the temp directory are "inherited" so any future files that are opened or created under this folder also inherit the Read Only permissions of the object.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server
OLAP Services version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3
for Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0. For information about
how to download and install SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services Service Pack 3, see the
following Microsoft Web site:
