PPT2001: Cannot Play Movies from PowerPoint 2000/97 Files (274731)

In PowerPoint 2001 for Mac, when you open a PowerPoint for Windows presentation that contains movie objects, and double-click the movie object in Slide view, you may receive the following error message
The linked multimedia file "File Path\File Name" is unavailable. Do you wish to locate it manually?
where File Path\File Name indicates an MS-DOS-based file path, such as C:\Movie\Documents\MyMovie.avi.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the movie file is not located in the same folder as the presentation file.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
To temporarily work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
- Place the movie file in the same folder (at the same level) as the presentation.
-or- - When the error message appears, click Yes and locate the original movie file.
NOTE: All inserted movies are linked to your presentation. If you show your presentation on a different computer, remember to also copy the movie file when you copy the presentation. If you don't, only a picture of the movie's poster frame is displayed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Service Release 1.
