257824 OL2000: Differences Between Outlook and Outlook Express

SYMPTOMS

When you post to newsgroups in Outlook Express, the newsgroup post appears to remain in your Outbox.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design. This behavior occurs because Outlook Express can perform only one send and receive action at a time. If you post to newsgroups while Outlook Express is sending a message, the newsgroup post is sent to your Outbox to wait for the next send and receive function.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, wait until all of the outgoing messages are sent, and then post to newsgroups. You can manually post to newsgroups if you click Send and Receive or Send and Receive All on the Tools menu.

MORE INFORMATION

A post to newsgroup is sent through the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server that you specified in the Outlook Express settings and is treated as an outbound message.
