SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Metal Gear Solid, you may receive the following error message:
Mgsi executed an invalid instruction in module Mgsi.exe.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:
  • Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements to play the game.
  • Your computer does not fully support MMX technology.

Make Sure That Your Computer Supports MMX Technology

If the processor (CPU) in your computer supports MMX, but the motherboard does not support MMX, you may be able to update the BIOS on the motherboard to add support for MMX technology.

NOTE: If the processor in your computer does not support MMX technology, the only way to add MMX support is to upgrade the processor.
