Error Messages on Toshiba Portege 7200CT Laptops (274361)

SYMPTOMS

If you are using a Toshiba Portege 7200CT laptop, you may receive the following error messages:

When you start your computer:
Could not connect to bios server
When you try to access Control Panel:
HCI load error

-or-

SCI Load error
Also, when you try to start or quit a program, you computer may appear to stop responding (hang), however, the program eventually resumes activity.

CAUSE

The latest Toshiba BIOS and Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) utility are not installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, view the following Toshiba Web site and download the latest BIOS update and Toshiba Windows 2000 Common Modules for ACPI support (TVALD):
