WARNING:This information is preliminary and has not been confirmed or tested by Microsoft. Use only with discretion.

SYMPTOMS

When you receive a message that has the Stationary option enabled or an embedded image, you may not see the image in the message, or you may see the following error message in the message body:
[Unable to display image]

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the message was sent with a proprietary e-mail system such as America Online (AOL).

WORKAROUND

To resolve this behavior, send the message in plain text or HTML format and include the image as an attachment.

MORE INFORMATION

Because the image is embedded and sent by third-party software, Microsoft mail clients may not understand the encoding that is used to embed the image. Attachments may work as expected.
