Modified Separator Character List Is Not Saved When Using MMSHashTool (274286)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2, a hashed attribute value is parsed according to a list of separator characters. You are able to change the separator characters in this list by using the MMSHashTool program. However, when you make changes to the list using the MMSHashTool program, the list remains unchanged.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the new list of separators is not written back to the configuration file when the changes are saved.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
