This article was previously published under Q274286 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Metadirectory Services 2.2, a hashed attribute value is parsed according to a list of separator characters. You are able to change the separator characters in this list by using the MMSHashTool program. However, when you make changes to the list using the MMSHashTool program, the list remains unchanged.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because the new list of separators is not written back to the configuration file when the changes are saved.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
