SYMPTOMS

When you start or restart the Windows Media Unicast Server, the Windows Media Server 4.1 log file header may be corrupted.

CAUSE

The data buffer is overwritten in subsequent operations because the write is not committed to the disk immediately.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
