SYMPTOMS

When you migrate UNIX users to Active Directory by using Nis2ad and you use the option to merge with existing users, the migration may not succeed if the CN (logon) name is different from a user's account name.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Nis2ad tries to match the CN name to the account name. If the names do not match, Nis2ad does not succeed.
