After you upgrade to Windows 2000, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
The following localized versions of Windows 2000 are affected by this problem:
- Chinese
- Czechoslovakian
- Dubai Gulf
- Greek
- Hong Kong
- Hungarian
- Indian
- Indonesian
- Hebrew
- Japanese
- Korean
- Polish
- Russian
- Taiwanese
- Turkish
- Thai
- Vietnamese
The U.S. English version and the following localized versions of Windows 2000 are not affected by this problem:
- Danish
- Dutch
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Italian
- Norwegian
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Portuguese (Portugal)
- Spanish
- Swedish
CAUSE
This problem can occur if you install Internet Explorer version 5, 5.01 or 5.5 on your computer that is running Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows 95 before you upgrade to Windows 2000.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Internet Explorer version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem:
- If you installed Internet Explorer 5.5 before you upgraded to Windows 2000, re-install Internet Explorer 5.5. If you installed Internet Explorer 5.01 or earlier before you upgraded to Windows 2000, install Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 1 or Internet Explorer 5.5. To obtain Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 1 or Internet Explorer 5.5, view the following Microsoft Web site:
- Configure your Content Advisor and Synchronization settings to the settings you specified before you upgraded to Window 2000.
NOTE: If you want to use 128-bit encryption, install the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack. To install the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack, view the following Microsoft Web site and select the appropriate language for your version of Windows 2000:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Internet Explorer 5.5. This problem was first corrected in Internet Explorer version 5.5 Service Pack 1.
