The Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice software does not require MSN Messenger to function properly. While you can use MSN Messenger to easily perform such tasks as finding online contacts and hosting or joining chat sessions, you can use the Game Voice software without MSN Messenger.

When you install the Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice software, you are prompted to install MSN Messenger to manage your connections.
If you cancel the installation of MSN Messenger during SideWinder Game Voice Setup, the Game Voice installation continues, and the Game Voice software still functions properly.
In addition, if the Game Voice software and MSN Messenger are installed on your computer and you uninstall MSN Messenger, the Game Voice software still functions properly.
NOTE: If you decide not to install MSN Messenger, or if you uninstall MSN Messenger, you must type the IP address of the host computer in the Find A Chat dialog box when you join a chat session.
