OL2000: A New Word Session Opens When You Use the New Letter to Contact Feature (274187)

SYMPTOMS

In Outlook, when you use the New Letter to Contact feature to create a letter, a new Microsoft Word session is created for each new letter.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

When you create documents in Word, only one instance of Word is started. To view all of the open documents, click the Window menu.

When you use the New letter to Contact feature to create a letter in Outlook, a new instance of Word starts for each letter, all of the open letters are not listed on the Window menu in Word, and there are multiple listings for the Winword.exe file on the Processes tab in the Windows Task Manager dialog box (the Close Program dialog box in Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98).
