SUMMARY

This article describes how to use a USB speaker system with the Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice software.

NOTE: To use the Game Voice software, a full-duplex sound card must be installed in your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

To configure the Game Voice software to work with USB speakers:
  1. Connect the USB speakers to the USB port on your computer.
  2. Connect the Game Voice command pad to the sound card as described in the Game Voice manual or Help file.
  3. Run the Sound Hardware Test Wizard in the Game Voice software:
    1. Start the Game Voice software, and then click Game Voice Settings.
    2. On the Setting page, click Advanced, and then click Run Now.
    3. In the Speakers box, click the sound card on your computer, and then click OK.
The game audio is played through the USB speaker system and the voice audio is played through your headset.

NOTES:

The Mute button on the control pad affects the headset microphone only.

When the Mute button on the control pad is depressed, your voice is not transmitted to other players in the chat session, but you continue to hear audio through the headset speakers.

The Volume control on the control pad affects the audio of the headset, not the volume of your USB speakers.

If you use USB speakers connected to a USB port, you cannot use the Headset/Speaker switch on the Game Voice control pad to switch the audio between the speakers and the headset.
