Windows Media Encoder Only Supports Type 2 DV Files (274164)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to select a DV Type 1 format file as a source file in a source group, you may receive the following error message:
The file you have specified does not contain any video.

Select another file before continuing.

CAUSE

The Encoder is only able to use DV Type 2 files in a source group.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade to the Windows Media Encoder 7.1. It now supports both Type 1 and Type 2 DV files.

WORKAROUND

Check the documentation for the product that is used to create the source file, and verify that it is able to save in the Type 2 format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Media Encoder version 7.0.
