XFOR: Lotus Notes Migration May Not Work, Event 12019 Is Logged (274130)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5

This article was previously published under Q274130

SYMPTOMS

Migration of Lotus Notes users may not work and you receive the following Event Viewer message:

Event ID: 12019
Source: MSExchangeMig
Type: Error
Description: Invalid user id file.

CAUSE

There are two reasons that can cause this problem:
  • The Lotus Notes user ID may be from a Lotus Notes server different than the one being migrated.
  • The path to the user ID is either missing or is incorrectly specified in the command line or batch process.
For example:

c:\mailmig.exe /c:control file and path /a:user.id and path /p:password for user.id

MORE INFORMATION

Lotus Notes user IDs can be renamed, which can cause confusion on systems where multiple Domino domains are being accessed. You can test the user ID by starting the Lotus Notes client or Administrator tool, and switching to that ID. If you are still unsure about the validity of that user ID, you can create a new ID in the Lotus Notes Administrator tool. The account needs a minimum of Reader permissions for all mailboxes that will be migrated.
