XCCC: Error Message: Instant Messaging Global Settings Could Not Be Found (274117)

SYMPTOMS

When you log on as a member of an organizational unit that you have given Instant Messaging administrative permissions to, you may receive the following error message when you try to make changes to an Instant Messaging user:
The Instant Messaging global settings could not be found. Instant Messaging may not be properly installed.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Instant Messaging administrator does not have permissions to view the Instant Messaging settings in Exchange System Manager.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, start Exchange System Manager, and then use the Delegate Control Wizard on the Organization object to make users in the Instant Messaging Administrators group View Only Exchange administrators.
