SYMPTOMS

When you remotely administer your Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based server that is running Windows Clustering by using the Windows 2000 Cluster Administrator tool, you may receive the following error message while the cluster resources are being enumerated:
A cluster node is not available for this operation.
Error ID: 5036 (000013ac).
Do you want to ignore this error and continue?

CAUSE

This problem can occur if one of the nodes in the Windows NT 4.0-based cluster is not turned on, is unavailable, or is unresponsive.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, click Yes To All when you receive the error message so that resource enumeration can continue. Note that depending on the number of resources that are not yet enumerated, Cluster Administrator may appear to stop responding (hang), but it eventually finishes.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
