WD2002: WordArt or AutoShape Object Is Pasted as Inline Picture in E-Mail Message (273995)

SYMPTOMS
When you paste a WordArt image or an AutoShape into a Microsoft Word e-mail message, the object is pasted as an inline picture rather than a floating object.
NOTE: To use Word as your e-mail editor, start Microsoft Outlook 2002, and then click Options on the Tools menu. On the Mail Format tab, click to select the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box, and then click OK.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use any of the appropriate methods for your situation.
Method 1: Paste as an MS Office Drawing Object
Paste your WordArt or AutoShape object into a Word e-mail message as an MS Office Drawing Object. To do this, follow these steps:
- In the file that contains the object that you want to copy, select the WordArt or AutoShape object, and then click Copy on the Edit menu.
- On the Edit menu in your Word e-mail message, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, select MS Office Drawing Object, and then click OK.
Method 2: Create and Send the Document from Word
Create your e-mail message as a Word document, and then send your document that contains the WordArt or AutoShape object directly from Word:
- In Word, create your document that contains the WordArt or AutoShape object.
- On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
- Type the recipient's e-mail address, a subject, and an introduction, if you want. Then click Send a Copy.
Method 3: Format the Object as Floating
To select the In front of text wrapping style, follow these steps:
- Click to select the WordArt or AutoShape object in your Word e-mail message.
- On the Format menu, click WordArt or Picture.
- On the Format WordArt or Format Picture dialog box, select the Layout tab.
- Select the In front of text option, and then click OK.
