WD2002: Drawing Object Is Distorted When You Print Multiple Sheets per Page (273987)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2002

This article was previously published under Q273987

For a Microsoft Word 2000 version of this article, see 220496.

SYMPTOMS

If you print a Microsoft Word document that contains a drawing object to a printer that has a non-square resolution (such as 1440 x 720 dpi, 1200 x 600 dpi, or 600 x 300 dpi), when you print multiple pages per sheet (2 or more), the width of the printed drawing object is wider than the height of the object.

For example, if you print a page containing a 1-inch square drawing object to a printer that has a resolution of 1440 x 720 dots per inch (dpi), the width of the printed square is greater than its height.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, print your document to a printer that has a square resolution aspect. For example, print to a printer that provides a resolution similar to any of the following:
  • 300 x 300 dpi
  • 600 x 600 dpi
  • 720 x 720 dpi
To determine if your printer has a square resolution aspect, contact your printer manufacturer.
