WD2002: Macros That Reference Custom Dictionaries No Longer Work (273977)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q273977 For a Microsoft Word 2000 version of this article, see 204535.
SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade to Microsoft Word 2002 from a version of Word earlier than Word 2000, you may find that existing solutions or macros that reference, create or modify custom dictionaries may no longer work.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because in versions of Word after and including Word 2000, the custom dictionaries are located in the Application Data\Microsoft\Proof folder. Existing solutions or macros that reference, create, or modify custom dictionaries generally assume that the custom dictionaries are in the Proofing Tools folder. If Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and WordBasic commands still point to the old location, existing macros will not work.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, modify your existing solutions or macros so that they point to the new, correct location of the custom dictionaries.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
