You can book an online conference with a foreign mail system on an Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conference computer by exporting the Exchange Conferencing Resources to the foreign mail systems directory.

This article explains how to perform a directory synchronization of Exchange Conferencing Resources to foreign mail systems by using Exchange 2000 Server. This article can be used with all Exchange 2000 foreign mail connectors that have clients that support the calendaring, and scheduling features (Including Lotus Notes, cc:Mail, and MS Mail).

The following steps assume that you have already created an Exchange Conferencing Resource.

To perform a directory synchronization of an Exchange Conferencing Resource to foreign mail systems, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
  2. Click View, and then click Advance features to display system objects.
  3. Open Microsoft Exchange System Objects.
  4. You now should see the Conferencing container. In the Conferencing container, there is list of resources.
  5. To perform a directory synchronization of these resources, you must move them to a viewable Organizational Unit (OU). You can create a new OU, or you can move these resources to the default Users container.
  6. Right-click the Conference Resource of your choice, click Move, and then click the appropriate container in which you perform the directory synchronization to the foreign mail system.
  7. After you move the Conference Resource, you can modify your foreign mail system connector (such as Notes, GroupWise, cc:Mail, or MS Mail).
  8. Make sure to add the container, or OU to the Export Container tab in the properties of the foreign mail system connector.
  9. If necessary, restart the connector after you make the change.
  10. Run a manual directory synchronization request to export the Conference Resource to the foreign mail system.
