If the legacyExchangeDN attribute of your original administrative group contains an OU value of anything except First Administrative Group, you must change the legacyExchangeDN values of several system objects on your recovery server before restored databases will start. The problems that you encounter with startup are similar to the problems that you encounter when trying to start a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 database with a mismatched site name.
In Exchange 2000 and Exchange Server 2003, this situation may result in the following error message:
An internal processing error has occurred. Try restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or both. ID no: c1041724 Exchange System Manager.
In addition, if the legacyExchangeDN attribute in Active Directory does not match that of the Information store, you receive a 1088 on the recovery server when you start the Information store, in addition to the error shown above.
