NFS Client Write Buffers Not Set When Using UNC Names (273756)

SYMPTOMS

When you configure the write buffer settings when you are using the NFS client in Services for UNIX (SFU) version 2, the buffer settings do not take effect if you connect by using Universal Naming Convention (UNC) names. The NFS client ignores the rsize and wsize settings if UNC path names are supplied. However, if the share is mounted, the settings are recognized

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows NT 4.0 service pack that contains this hotfix.
