PPT2001: Error Message When You Open Presentation in Web Browser (273698)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q273698 SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to view a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in a Web browser, you may receive an error message similar to the following
The file cannot be found.
and the presentation is not displayed as expected.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the presentation is moved or copied to another location. If the folder with supporting files is not moved or copied to the same location, its link to the presentation is broken.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, move or copy the supporting folder to the same location as the presentation.
MORE INFORMATION
When you create a presentation for the Web, PowerPoint creates the main Web page (file name) and a supporting folder (file name_files). The supporting folder holds all the graphics, supporting HTML pages, style sheets, scripts, and embedded sounds and video for the presentation. The main Web page has relative links to those files. For these links to work correctly, the folder name must not be changed, and the folder must be located in the same place as the main Web page.
