PPT2001: Pixel Settings in Saved Graphics May Differ from Settings in Preferences (273697)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q273697

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Mac presentation as graphic slides, the pixel settings of the graphic files that are created may vary slightly from the dimensions set in the Options dialog box when the graphic files are saved. This applies to all graphic formats.

CAUSE

The slides are created with a particular page size, such as US Letter Paper or A4 Paper or 35-mm Slides. PowerPoint adjusts the pixels accordingly in order to get an allowable number of pixels per inch. For example, if the width of the slide is 10 inches and the user chooses 1,024 pixels, PowerPoint does not allow 102.4 pixels per inch. Instead, it is rounded off to 102 pixels per inch. Hence the result is 1,020 pixels instead of 1,024 pixels (10 inches times 102 pixels per inch).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
