PPT2001: First Frame in PowerPoint Movie Is Missing QuickTime Transition (273690)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q273690 SYMPTOMS
When you create a Microsoft PowerPoint movie with QuickTime transitions between slides in PowerPoint 2001 for Mac, there is no transition before the first slide. The first slide appears without a transition even when the movie plays in a loop.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because QuickTime animation is triggered by a slide transition event, and the starting of the presentation is not reported as a transition event.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, add a blank slide as the first slide in the presentation, and then there will be a transition from the blank slide to the former first slide of the presentation. To add a blank slide and set up the transition, follow these steps:
- On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
- On the Advanced tab, click to select the Enable multiple designs per presentation check box, and then click OK.
- On the View menu, click Slide Sorter.
- Click to the left of the first slide in the presentation.
- On the Insert menu, click New Slide.
- On the Format menu, click Apply Design Template.
- Select Blank in the list of design templates.
- Click to select the Apply to selected slides check box, and then click Apply.
- On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition.
- Click Select QuickTime Transition in the Effect list, select the effect that you want, and then click OK.
- Click to clear the On mouse click check box, and then click to select the Automatically after seconds check box.
- Type 0 in the Automatically after seconds box, and then click Apply.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
