PPT2001: First Frame in PowerPoint Movie Is Missing QuickTime Transition (273690)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q273690

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft PowerPoint movie with QuickTime transitions between slides in PowerPoint 2001 for Mac, there is no transition before the first slide. The first slide appears without a transition even when the movie plays in a loop.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because QuickTime animation is triggered by a slide transition event, and the starting of the presentation is not reported as a transition event.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, add a blank slide as the first slide in the presentation, and then there will be a transition from the blank slide to the former first slide of the presentation. To add a blank slide and set up the transition, follow these steps:
  1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. On the Advanced tab, click to select the Enable multiple designs per presentation check box, and then click OK.
  3. On the View menu, click Slide Sorter.
  4. Click to the left of the first slide in the presentation.
  5. On the Insert menu, click New Slide.
  6. On the Format menu, click Apply Design Template.
  7. Select Blank in the list of design templates.
  8. Click to select the Apply to selected slides check box, and then click Apply.
  9. On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition.
  10. Click Select QuickTime Transition in the Effect list, select the effect that you want, and then click OK.
  11. Click to clear the On mouse click check box, and then click to select the Automatically after seconds check box.
  12. Type 0 in the Automatically after seconds box, and then click Apply.

STATUS
