Shuffle Feature Does Not Work with Playlists Created in Nullsoft Winamp (272982)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows Media Player 7, when you play a .M3u playlist created in Nullsoft Winamp, songs are played in order, even if the shuffle feature is enabled under the Play menu.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you open the *.M3u playlist in the Media Library.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, import the playlist into Windows Media Player using the following steps:
  1. On the File menu, click Import Playlist to Library.
  2. Click the *.M3u file you want to import, and then click Open.
  3. Click Media Library, right-click the playlist, and then click Play.
NOTE: Winamp can also save playlists as a *.Pls file. The *.Pls format is not supported by Windows Media Player.
