OFF2001: Excel and Word Cannot Import Data from FileMaker Pro Databases That Contain JPEG, PICT, or TIFF Files (272903)

In Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac, when you attempt to import data from a FileMaker Pro database that contains JPEG, PICT, or TIFF pictures, the FileMaker Import Wizard does not import any data and you receive no warning or error message.
Similarly, in Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac, when you attempt to import data from a FileMaker Pro database that contains JPEG, PICT, or TIFF pictures, the FileMaker Import Wizard fails to import any data. However, you do receive the following error message:
Word was unable to open the data source.
CAUSE
When Container fields in a FileMaker Pro database contain JPEG, PICT, or TIFF files, the records can not be imported correctly by Excel 2001 for Mac and Word 2001 for Mac.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
To temporarily work around this problem, make a copy of the FileMaker Pro database and delete any Container fields that contain JPEG, PICT, or TIFF files. Use the edited copy of the database when you want to import the data into Excel or Word.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2001 for Mac Service Release 1.
