XL2001: "Font Size" Box Displays Only the 12-Point Font Size (272900)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to change the font size of a cell, the Font Size list box displays only one possible selection - 12 points.

NOTE: This problem may occur in the Font Size list box on the Font tab of the Format Cells dialog box, or on the Formatting toolbar, or in the Formatting Palette.

CAUSE

This problem occurs only if the operating system is OS 8.1.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, do one of the following:
  • Type the point size directly into the Font Size box in any of its locations.
  • Upgrade the operating system to a later version than OS 8.1.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Excel 2001 Macintosh Edition.

  1. On the Help menu, click Contents and Index, click Index, and then click F.
  2. Scroll down until you locate font, and then click the arrow to the left to view a list of topics under the general topic.
  3. Click Change the size, font, color, or other text format.
