The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac

This article was previously published under Q272892

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Microsoft Excel 2001 workbook in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition or Microsoft Excel 2000 for Windows, and you insert a row above a list, and then save the file, the last row of data in the list is lost when you open the workbook again in Excel 2001, and the total row appears outside the list.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the List Manager is a new feature in Excel 2001, and earlier versions of Excel may cause unexpected behavior or loss of data when they are used to edit files containing list objects.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the Microsoft Office 2001 Service Release 1 file. To do so, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

STATUS
