XL2001: Conditional Sum Wizard Returns an Error When Visual Basic for Applications Is Not Installed (272889)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the Conditional Sum Wizard in Microsoft Excel 2001, you may receive the following error message:
The Conditional Sum Wizard encountered an unexpected error. Please try again.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications is not installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications on the computer. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Office Installer on the Microsoft Office 2001 compact disc.
  2. Select Custom Install.
  3. Under Office Tools, click to select Visual Basic for Applications, and then click Install.
  4. After Office 2001 has been successfully re-installed, click Quit to quit the Installer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac.
