The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac

This article was previously published under Q272878

SYMPTOMS

When you save a worksheet with a chart as a Web page, the data labels may be displayed as white text in the browser (for example, Internet Explorer), instead of black text as they appear in the worksheet. This behavior may occur in the saved Web page both when viewed directly in the browser and when viewed in the browser through Web Page Preview in Microsoft Excel.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you apply any fill effect (for example, pattern, texture, gradient, or picture) to any element in an Excel 2001 for Mac chart (for example, the chart area, plot area, data labels, or data series).

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, remove all fill effects, and then use a solid-color fill or no fill at all.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac.
