XL2001: Formula Bar Displays Incorrect Cell Contents in Cells Below a List's New Row (272876)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 2001 for Mac
This article was previously published under Q272876 SYMPTOMS
When you select a cell inside a list object, the list expands by one row and shifts the cells below it downward to display a new row for data entry.
However, when you select a cell in the Total row of the list, the Formula Bar may display the wrong cell contents.
In addition, when you select a cell that contains data below the list, the Formula Bar may display nothing, as long as there is data in at least one cell in the row immediately below the list.
WORKAROUND
To make the Formula Bar display the correct cell contents of a cell in the Total row, first click any other cell inside of the list before you click the cell in the Total row.
To make the Formula Bar display the correct cell contents of a cell below the list, first click any other cell outside of the list, and then click the cell that you want.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. REFERENCESFor more information about using lists to manage data, follow these steps: - On the Help menu, click Contents and Index, click Index, and then click L.
