If you attempt to insert a symbol while you are checking the spelling and grammar in a Microsoft Word 2001 document, Word may quit unexpectedly and display the following error message:
The application 'Microsoft Word' has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 2 occurred. You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, insert the symbol into your document either before or after you have completed checking the spelling and grammar.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Word 2001 for Mac.
