OFF2001: Computer Stops, "Illegal Instruction" Error Message When You Work in Word with RAM Doubler 9.0 (272803)

When you attempt to use a command that is memory intensive or requires random access memory (RAM) in Word 2001, for example, one of the following commands
- Open an external data source as part of a mail merge operation.
-or- - Reformat your document after you change the unit of measurement from inches to centimeters.
-or- - Print a document.
and your computer is running RAM Doubler 9.0, your computer may stop responding (hang) and may display an error message similar to the following:
Illegal Instruction at 0012FA8C
CAUSE
This problem occurs when RAM Doubler 9.0 is installed on the computer and is enabled in the active System Folder.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps:
- When the computer stops responding, press COMMAND+CONTROL+Power Button to restart the computer.
- While the computer is restarting, hold down the SPACEBAR until the Extensions Manager window appears.
- Scroll down until you locate RAM Doubler 9.0 under Name in the list of extensions, and then click to clear the On/Off check box next to the RAM Doubler 9.0 entry. This turns off RAM Doubler.
- Click Continue to allow your computer to finish restarting.
- Update to RAM Doubler 9.0.1. To obtain the update, please browse to the following Connectix Web site, and scroll down to the RAM Doubler 9 updates:

This problem occurs when you use any of the programs included with Microsoft Office version 2001 for Mac and Connectix Corporation's RAM Doubler version 9.0.
