This article was previously published under Q272789

SYMPTOMS

You can assign entry and exit animations to text objects and multimedia objects in a PowerPoint presentation. However, if you set a multimedia object to play after a text object's entry animation but before its exit animation, the multimedia object does not play in the correct order. Instead, it waits until both the entry and exit animations of the text object are executed, and then it plays.

WORKAROUND

In order to work around this behavior, apply the Appear animation to the multimedia object. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click the multimedia object.
  2. On the Slide Show menu, point to Animations, and then click Custom.
  3. In the Custom Animation dialog box, on the Effects tab, set the Entry effect to Appear, and then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
