PPT2001: "Save As Web Page" Functionality Requires That Main Page Be Stored with Supporting Folder (272777)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
This article was previously published under Q272777 SYMPTOMS
When you save a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation as a Web page, and then move all the files created to a single folder, the Web page may not be displayed correctly. When you open the main page with a Web browser, you may receive an error message similar to the following
The file cannot be found.
and a blank page is displayed.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when the main page is stored in the same folder as the supporting files in the Web presentation.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, make sure that the supporting files are stored in a subfolder, and that the main page resides in the same folder as the supporting files subfolder. Additionally, to ensure that all the links work correctly, make sure that the supporting files subfolder contains all of the supporting files.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
For optimal performance, some Web servers require that all the files be on the same level, without any subfolders.
