SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, the following error may be reported in the Microsoft Windows 2000 application event log:

Event ID : 8212
Source : MSExchangeCONF
Category : Startup/Shutdown
Description:
The Microsoft Exchange Conference Management service could not log on to the Microsoft Exchange Information Store - idling until it can. Error code:81002746; Message: /o=Organization/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=conference calendar mailbox alias

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the conference calendar mailbox is not included in any global address lists that have been created in the All Global Address Lists container.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, create an address list in the All Global Address Lists container which includes the conference calendar mailbox.

MORE INFORMATION

To verify that the conference calendar mailbox is included in a global address list, follow these steps:
  1. Start Ldp.exe or Adsiedit, and then check the address lists shown in the attribute showInAddressBook of the conference calendar mailbox.
  2. Check these address lists to see if any of these lists have been created in the All Global Address Lists container.
Even if the conference calendar mailbox is included in an address list in the All Address Lists container, if the mailbox is not included in any of the address lists in the All Global Address Lists container, an 8212 event is reported in the application event log.
